SUMMARY:FND Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) is a problem with the functioning of the nervous system and how the brain and body send and receive signals. Physical and/or psychological risk factors can cause functional symptoms which include a variety of physical\, sensory and cognitive symptoms that have yet to be explained by a recognised disease. \nFunctional Neurological Disorders are considered to be multifactorial\, which means many different risk factors can contribute to the development of the disorder. The symptoms are real and can cause impairment in quality of life that is similar to and in some aspects worse than other neurological conditions. \nFND occupies a grey area between psychiatry and neurology that historically has failed to gain the interest of researchers and clinicians. The prevalence and potential reversibility of functional illness have peaked new research interests. New scientific findings are influencing how patients are diagnosed\, treated\, and creating an overall change in attitude toward Functional Neurological Disorder patients.

The edible kind. \nRecognising their value\, and the nutritional and environmental benefits of eating pulses (like lentils\, beans\, and more) proclaiming 2016 as the International Year of Pulses (IYP). The celebration of the year\, led by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)\, increased the public awareness of the nutritional and environmental benefits of pulses as part of sustainable food production. \nThey are recommended in the diets of many major health organisations including those established to reduce the risks of cancer\, heart disease\, and diabetes. Pulses are good for you and good for the planet. \n\nWhat are Pulses?\n\n\nPulses are the edible seeds of plants in the legume family. Pulses grow in pods and come in a variety of shapes\, sizes and colors. The United Nations recognises 11 types of pulses: dry beans\, dry broad beans\, dry peas\, chickpeas\, cow peas\, pigeon peas\, lentils\, Bambara beans\, vetches\, lupins and pulses. \n\nPulses & Your Health\n\n\nDiets rich in pulses contribute to good health and can reduce the risk of certain diseases.
